The Settatree Reunion

Canadian finds Washington Relatives

Last year on this website we published an item from a Canadian seeking to locate relatives he had never met.  Bill Settatree of Toronto Canada knew that many years ago his uncle Bill Settatree  had a petrol station and  tea room  in Washington and that this had eventually been closed down. The Canadian Settatree knew  too that his first cousin Ron Settatree had two married daughters. Ron was deceased and Bill could not locate  the daughters until after the item appeared in the Washington Rag.

Judy Ward of Brook House, London Road Washington, the location of the original petrol station,  and her sister Mary Sturgess eventually linked up with the Canadian. Judy and her daughter made a visit to Canada last summer and in October Bill Settatree from Canada and his brother John from the United States came to Washington for a family reunion.

The Canadian Settatree writes “ thanks for your help in getting us together. We have finally linked up with our relatives in what we hope will be the start of a long  and happy series of visits. They are wonderful.”
